APRIL RENEE BALLARD
Born: 05-07-1956, at Williams Air Force Base, Maricopa County, Arizona.
Died: 02-16-2006, 49 years old, of Surprise, Maricopa County, Arizona.
April was the second child of four. She had been a flight attendant for
America West Airline for 19 years. April is survived by her parents
Gayla and Fred McElvain; her fiance Philip Feeley; sister Melissa
Ballard, MHS; 1972; two brothers, Kendal Ballard, MHS; 1975, and Damon
(Elizabeth) Ballard, nine nieces and nephews. Though we know she is in
Heaven with our Father and her soul shines down upon us every day from
here on, she will be deeply missed by her family and good friends, she
is leaving behind! Services were held at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 719
North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85009, on Friday, 02/24/2006.
Gravesite location: Garden of Rest, Section 9, Block 7, Lot 46, Space 5.

KEVIN JAMES BLAICH
Born: 07-28-1956
Died: 09-01-1978, from a hunting accident.
Kevin was on the MHS freshman basketball team in 1971. He was on the JV
baseball team during his sophomore year in 1972. Kevin spent his first 2
years at MHS, and finished his 1973 junior, and 1974 senior years at the
newly built Trevor Browne High School (TBHS). This was due to the
enforced geographical boundary split, made in 1972 by a Phoenix Union
High School District (PUHSD) governing board decision, which started at
the beginning of the 1972-73 school year, with the opening of TBHS.
Kevin played Varsity basketball and was on the Varsity Golf team at TBHS
during both his junior and senior class years. In the summer of 1973,
Kevin became a lifeguard for the City of Phoenix, Parks and Recreation
Department, Starlight Park City Pool. He was a lifeguard for 5 years and
the swim team coach for 3 years. He was a Starlight Park Little League
volunteer coach for 10 years. After Kevin's death, the ball field at
Starlight Park was renamed in his honor: "Starlight Park Little League,
Kevin Blaich Minor-Major Field." In 1974-75 and 1975-76 Kevin attended
Phoenix College and was a member of the Golf team. After taking 1 year
off from school, he was the 1st recruit of the Golf team at Grand Canyon
College (now: Grand Canyon University), where he led the team to the
1978 NAIA (National Association of Independent Athletics) national
championship tournament. Kevin was named to the NAIA All-American team,
after finishing in 1st Place as the tournament's individual medalist.
Kevin's brothers are: John "J.B." Stephen Blaich, MHS; 1966, Willard
"Woody" A. Blaich, JR. MHS; 1967, Mark Blaich, MHS; 1970, and Jeffery
"Jeff" Blaich, MHS; 1973. His Mother is Jane C. Blaich, of Sun City,
Arizona. His Father is Willard "Bill" A. Blaich, SR. (DOB: 12/12/1919 -
DOD: 07/24/1981) is laid to rest next to Kevin. Kevin died at 22 years
of age, when he was bird hunting and his shotgun accidentally misfired.
Kevin's interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Road,
Avondale, Arizona 85323; Section: Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG), next to
marker P92. Kevin last resided in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona USA
85033.

Bob died while on the job in a construction accident. He was moving a
compressor that had power to it, a live cord was dragging behind him &
hit water that he was walking through; he was electrocuted. Bob's

Rosemary Bourassa, MHS; 1971, Michael Bourassa, MHS; 1972, & Joanne

Lawrence "Larry" Wade Crutchfield
Age 57, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly
on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born in Phoenix, Ariz., on Oct. 15, 1956,
Larry was the son of the late Charles Houston and Dolores Fay (Arrowwood)
Crutchfield. Upon graduating from Maryvale High School in Phoenix,
Ariz., Lawrence served his country in the
United States Navy. He then was employed at various companies in
Tuscarawas and Stark Counties, mainly as a roofer. He lived in the
area for 21 years and was Protestant by faith. Lawrence was a
wrestler in high school and he enjoyed running, fishing and camping.
On June 2, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev., Larry married Jeanne Edith (Embler)
Crutchfield, who survives of Dennison; also surviving are their
children: Jason Wade (Tiffany) Crutchfield of Uhrichsville, Jacob
Lawrence Crutchfield, Samantha Jayne Crutchfield and Sandra Renee
(Jon) Shinabery all of Dennison; his siblings: Charles Houston
Crutchfield of Goodyear, Ariz., and Debra Lynn Muegel of Chino
Valley, Ariz.; his grandchildren: Candace Arlene Crutchfield, Aubri
Crutchfield, Keira Shinabery, Alexandra Shinabery, Tessa Bassa, Gage
Hamlin and Gavin Hamlin all of the Twin Cities; and numerous nieces
and nephews in Arizona.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, no services or calling hours will be

Barry is survived by his Mother Marge, sister Linda Frampton (MHS;
1975), brother Ron Loper (wife, Mary), daughters Kathi Frampton-Hunt, of
Peoria, Arizona, and Teresa, son Rick, and two granddaughters, Jordynn
Hunt and Kaycee Prano, both of Peoria, Arizona. His nieces are Paula
Loper of Gila Bend, Arizona, and Courtnaye Gushert, of Glendale,
Arizona. Nephew, DJ Gushert, of Glendale, Arizona. Great-nephew, Justin
"Hotshot" Hornbeck, of Alvarado, Texas. Barry was an avid hunter,

MARY ELLEN HALLAHAN
Born: approx. 1956, in Morenci, Greenlee County, Arizona
Died: 11-29-2007, at 52 years of age, after a nine month battle with
Inflammatory Breast Cancer, in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona
Mary Ellen Hallahan, was a Maryvale High School (MHS) graduate, class of
1974. She was very active in school activities. She graduated from
Arizona State University (ASU) with a degree in Special Education. Mary
earned her Masters Degree from Chapman University. She coached various
sports from little dribblers to varsity athletics. Tarver Elementary
School was her home until her illness did not allow her to return to
work. She loved her kids, friends, colleagues and school. Her love for
children and dedication to education will be irreplaceable. The Lord
blessed Leo and Betty Hallahan with a daughter in Morenci, Arizona. She
truly loved her parents and adored her brothers, John (Jeanmarie)
Hallahan, Donald (Mary) Hallahan, MHS; 1972, and Tim (Debbie) Hallahan,
MHS; 1975. She was especially dedicated to her nieces and nephews;
Danielle, Krista, Carolyn (Bobbie Bruce), Michael, Lindsey (Jeff Fay),
Megan, Christopher, Jeff and Caitlin. She bragged often about her
grandnephew, Jason, and grandnieces, Grace and Reyna. She loved all of
her "kids." Additionally, Mary spent many hours watching her God Son,
Ryno (Bethel), play baseball all over the country. She was his number
one fan. Memorial services was held on Saturday, 12/08/2007 at Heritage
Funeral Chapel 6830 West Thunderbird Road, Peoria, Arizona. In lieu of
flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in memory of
Mary to the

Died: 07-1986, from a congenital heart defect.
Tim attended MHS during his sophomore, junior and senior class years. He
was a member of the Drama/Thespians club and was on the Panther Tracks
Newspaper staff. In 1972-73 (Tim's junior year) the Panther Tracks
newspaper reached more students and homes than ever before, as the
school newspaper was given away, free for the 1st time in it's history.
It was produced under two editors, who took on some of the thornier
problems of the school which led to a strong "Letters to the Editor
Column". Tim's sisters are: Donna (Hooey) Schneider, MHS; 1975 and
Shelly Hooey, MHS; 1982. Tim's Mother is Freda B. Hooey (born:
01-01-1934 - deceased: 03-11-1988). Tim last resided in Phoenix,

predeceased by his niece Amy Christine

& infant daughter, Lenessa Glaspy. She is survived by her parents,
Victor & Beverly Norcross, a daughter Crystal & son-in-law Alvin Sparks,
& a son, Shawn Glaspy. Her finance, Pedro Caldwell, sister Gay &
brother-in-law, Duke Canfield. Two grandchildren, Seth & Charlie, &
three nephews, Richard Adamicki, Matthew Fouch, & Donald Fouch. Victoria
resided in Coolidge, Pinal County, Arizona.

Dana was a freshman at MHS in 1970-71 and was a member of the Reserve
Officers Training Corps (ROTC); which moved quietly on to the MHS campus
and enrolled a membership 3 times as big as expected. Black Canyon
Shooting Range was the site of the Big Bore Rifle Match of all the ROTC
units in the Valley. A 1st place and several other awards, including a
trophy, were brought back to MHS by the cadets during the 1st year at
MHS. In 1971-72, Dana's sophomore year, he was a member of the MHS-ROTC,
'A' Company, 2nd Platoon, and the award winning MHS Drill Team; and the
entire ROTC unit was cited at its 1st federal inspection. During Dana's
junior year, 1972-73, he was in the 'B' Company, 1st Platoon, and again
on the Drill Team. Dana's parents are: Donald Dale Norre(dob:06/02/1931-dod:04/29/2003) and Ruth Norre, of Sun City, Arizona.
Dana's sister is Debbie Norre, MHS; 1972. His brother is Mike Norre,

DENNIS A. PLUMMER
Born: 02-10-1956, in Jenners, Pennsylvania.
Died: 07-16-2004, at age 48, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dennis's parents are: James H. Plummer and Julia L. Plummer. His family
moved to the Maryvale Area in 1956 where he was raised and attended
school. He graduated in 1974 from Maryvale High School. Dennis was a
Union Member of IBEW Local # 769 and employed with Argent Construction
Co. for the last 8 years where he was a Journeyman Lineman. Dennis loved
the outdoors, camping, fishing and boating as well as NASCAR and was a
life long member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was the
Greatest son, husband, father, brother and friend. "Taken but never
forgotten, See you all later." He is survived by his beloved wife
Cynthia Marie Plummer (nee Friedman) who he married on October 12, 1990;
4 Loving children Mark O'Leary, Tanila (David) O'Leary, Brandon Plummer
and Jarrett Plummer; Mother Julia L. and Tom Conway; 1 Sister Pam
(Roger) Taylor; 3 Brothers James "J.B." Burton Plummer (MHS; 1966), Mike
(Candy) Conway and Eddie Conway and his many nieces and nephews. He is
preceded in death by his father James H. Plummer, who passed away in
1958. Visitation and a Memorial Service was Thursday, 07/22/2004 at
Lundberg Mortuary White Rose Chapel, 5310 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale,
Arizona. In lieu of flowers, a family fund was set up at Bank of
