Alzheimers Day
As a Caregiver I deal with Alzheimer everyday.
There are 7 stages of Alzheimer disease and my Mom is at stage 5 to 6. That is the point where she can't recognize us and can't recall what you said to her one minute ago. She needs constant attention. Every afternoon at about 4pm she experiences what they call "sundowners syndrome" where she tries to leave. She wants to go home, but doesn't know where home is.  Story Continues            . If you have any good ideas let me know! email lasharpe@cox.net

FRUIT = ALKALINE BODY = CANCER PREVENTION
We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat. What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so. In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach. There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

MiracleWater Watch video on Dr Shinya and his prescription to all patients to drink Kangen. Dr Shinya invented the colonoscopy and is respected the world over for his knowledge of how the colon can predict all diseases of the body. His experience has taught him that Kangen helps flush fatty deposits from the colon keeping it clean and able to assimilate the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.

HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE
A serious note about heart attacks. Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

The Wave Of the Future: Hands-Free, Germ-Free Restroom Door Opening System
Sanidoor system opens restroom doors with the wave of a hand www.Sanidoor.com

(Daytona Beach, Florida)  57% of men and 46% of women do not wash their hands after using the restroom, according to an Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses study. That means, of course, that users often contaminate public restroom doors with an array of germs. And a unique technology is now helping to prevent the spread of those germs at an increasing number of public restrooms across the country.

Sanidoor [san-a-dohr] is a touch-free door opening system designed to reduce the spread of germs by eliminating contact with the door surface when
entering and exiting restrooms. Doors equipped with the Sanidoor system open with the simple wave of ones hand, much like hands-free faucets and towel dispensers. Sanidoor is currently popular in many restaurants and businesses in Florida and is poised to launch throughout North America. The Sanidoor system features models developed specifically for multi-user restrooms with swinging doors, latching doors, like those on cruise ships, and single-use locking public restrooms that are ideal for doctors waiting rooms and professional offices. More than 300 public restroom locations in the United States use the Sanidoor system to eliminate germs. The Sanidoor system is gaining popularity among large employers, hotels, hospitals, doctors offices and retail outlets.

Sanidoor retrofits to swinging door in public, commercial and business settings: restaurants, hotels, stores, hospitals, health care facilities, city and county buildings and more. Approved to meet all U.S. and Canadian standards for automatic door openers, Sanidoor easily installs on existing public restroom doors, including retrofit and new construction. The innovative design of the Sanidoor system even includes safety measures for impediment and entrapment protection.

Sanidoor is ADA compliant and is internationally patented and trademarked. Click here to watch the Sanidoor Information Video: http://www.sanidoor.com/video.flv

The suggested retail price for the Sanidoor system starts at $1,299 in the U.S. and may require a $200 to $350 installation by a professional electrician. For more information, call (800) 930-7264 and go to www.sanidoor.com.

Zinc
Can you slow aging with a hearty and delicious bowl of chili? You'll get plenty of zinc, thanks to the rich red kidney beans in my chili recipe. A new study showed that zinc may help both prevent and reverse age-inducing damage to DNA. Zinc intake is so important to staying young that when middle-aged men in a study went from adequate zinc intake to zinc deficiency, they showed more breaks in certain DNA strands. When they were placed back on a zinc-rich diet, damage to DNA strands decreased significantly, suggesting that injured strands were repaired. You want healthy DNA, because damaged DNA can speed the aging process and increase your risk for conditions like cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Zinc isn't necessarily a fountain of youth, but the study results suggest that nearly 12 percent of Americans with a zinc deficiency may be doing their bodies a disservice. So how about that bowl of chili?

Zinc is an essential mineral of "exceptional biologic and public health importance". The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 8 mg/day for women and 11 mg/day for men. Median intake in the U.S. around 2000 was 9 mg/day for women and 14 mg/day in men. Red meats, especially beef, lamb and liver have some of the highest concentrations of zinc in food.

The concentration of zinc in plants varies based on levels of the element in soil. When there is adequate zinc in the soil, the food plants that contain the most zinc are wheat (germ and bran) and various seeds (sesame, poppy, alfalfa, celery, mustard). Zinc is also found in beans, nuts, almonds, whole grains, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and blackcurrant.

Did you know swallowing a post-1982 American one cent penny (97.5% zinc) can cause damage to the stomach lining due to the high solubility of the zinc ion in the acidic stomach

On June 16, 2009, the FDA said that consumers should stop using zinc-based intranasal cold products and ordered their removal from store shelves. The FDA said the loss of smell can be life-threatening because people with impaired smell cannot detect leaking gas or smoke and cannot tell if food has spoiled before they eat it.

For a cold day zinc boost try my famous chili recipe.

LeeAnn's Chili

  • Brown 1 lb ground beef
  • Add 1 large Vidalia Sweet onion chopped medium size pieces (under 1/2 inch)
  • Add 1 green bell pepper chopped medium size pieces
  • Add Schillings Chili Seasoning mix & 1 Tbsp Sugar & Salt & Pepper to taste. (Or use Chili powder, cummin, paprika, & garlic)
  • Add 1 medium can kidney beans
  • Add 1 medium can black beans
  • Add 1 medium can great northern beans
  • Add 1 medium can pinto beans
  • Add 1 can Stewed tomatoes (seasoned for with jalapenos are best)

Stew for at least 20 minutes but longer is better and best the next day when reheated. Serve with sour cream, cheddar cheese and chopped onion for the top. Accompany with cornbread!

2nd Group Calls on Congress to Suspend NIH Grants and Criticizes NIH Spokesperson’s Response

Another large national organization, The FAIR Foundation, and its 27 member Board of Directors of surgeons, medical directors, dentists and patient advocates, applauds the recent call to Congress by the Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) urging Congress to freeze National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for six months while investigating the NIH’s research practices that are "striking working families across America as wasteful, illicit, and in many cases outright offensive."

Palm Desesrt, CA (PRWEB) August 02, 2011

Another large national organization, The FAIR Foundation, and its 27 member Board of Directors of surgeons, medical directors, dentists and patient advocates, applauds the recent call to Congress by the Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) urging Congress to freeze National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for six months while investigating the NIH’s research practices that are "striking working families across America as wasteful, illicit, and in many cases outright offensive."

FAIR’s CEO, Dr. Richard Darling, states, “I applaud TVC for ‘outing’ the NIH for improper use of taxpayer dollars to study 'rats on cocaine, water buffaloes and snails in China,' which owns over a trillion dollars in US Treasuries and can well afford to fund its own researchers."

Darling continues: "It should be pointed out that the NIH seems to think our dollars should also be providing research jobs in other areas of the world, as evidenced in the list below. It is taken from just two of the pages detailing HIV research.”

  •     Kazakhstan: Couples-Based HIV Prevention for Injecting Drug Users
  •     Tijuana: Epidemiology of HIV and HCV Among Injecting Drug Users
  •     China: Neurobehavioral effects of HIV and host genetics
  •     Thailand: Risk Factors for HIV-1 infection Among Young men
  •     Brazil: HIV and Perinatal Depression
  •     Malawi: A Randomized Trial of HIV Partner Notification
  •     Brazil AIDS Consortium
  •     Jamaica: HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials
  •     Kenya: Preventing HIV Risk Among Adolescent Orphans
  •     Zimbabwe: Environmental Factors Shaping Circumcision Decisions
  •     Cambodia: Culture and HIV Prevention
  •     Kenya: Mental health assessment & treatment for HIV prevention
  •     Haiti: Cost-effectiveness: Early vs. Delayed Antiretroviral Therapy
  •     India: National AIDS Research Institute: Clinical Trials Unit
  •     Chiang Mai University HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit
  •     Uganda: Impact of HIV & therapy on cause and Outcome of Meningitis

Darling has special criticism for the NIH’s response to the Traditional Values Coalition by NIH spokesperson, John Burklow, who responded that this funding is necessary with his reference to HIV disease and “many people in the USA who suffer from parasite diseases.”

Darling states, “Regarding HIV, what Burklow didn't mention is that the Director of the NIH’s Institute that oversees HIV’s $28.3 billion budget request, Anthony Fauci, MD, has publicly admitted his ‘breathtaking success’ with ‘HIV patients living normal lives.’”

(To insure fair and equitable distributions of NIH bio-medical research funding, FAIR has issued an opinion editorial calling on President Obama to replace Director Fauci with a Director who has no bias towards any one disease.)

Darling: “Fauci has been at the NIH overseeing all HIV funding through five US Presidents; it is time for change. Such favoritism is grossly unfair to researchers looking for cures for all other illnesses, including rare illnesses, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hepatitis C."

Darling continues, “Taxpayers have now spent over one-third of a trillion dollars on HIV disease. It is an outrage that our country, which is on the verge of default, is continuing such funding on a disease that in almost all cases can be prevented by purchasing a 50¢ condom and treated with two pills a day that cost 40¢. These facts were recently emphasized by HIV advocates and legendary performers Bono and Elton John who also publicly admitted that ‘HIV is not a life threatening illnesses anymore.’”

Regarding Burklow stating that the NIH’s exorbitant funding was necessary due to many people in the U.S. who suffer from parasitic diseases, Darling has little patience:

“I’m sure we all have many friends and relatives riddled with parasites. For the NIH to stoop to such an absurd statement is clear evidence of the need for Congress to step in and put an end to the NIH's abusive use of taxpayer funds.”

Dr. Richard Darling is the Founder, President & CEO of the FAIR Foundation whose missions are equitable funding for bio-medical research, new policies to reverse America’s organ-donor crisis, promotion of organ donation, preventive health education and pre- and post-transplant educational/emotional support and referral for transplant in their Liver Disease & Transplant Support Group. FAIR’s Board of Directors includes 27 transplant surgeons, medical directors, dentists, pharmacists and patient advocates.

Did you know that your body needs to be about 70 to 75% WATER in order to attain and maintain your best health possible?

Did you know that up to 98% of Americans experience some dehydration on a regular basis, and that over 70% are CHRONICALLY DEHYDRATED?

It's true, and this ignorant and irresponsible way of life is affecting each and every one of us in some way. Either you got sick needlessly, or someone you know is suffering from some sort of very preventable illness or affliction, or you and I are paying for it in HUGE healthcare insurance fees or taxes to support those who go to our public health facilities without having any insurance coverage.

Luckily - there is a VERY simple answer, and that is to HYDRATE yourself by drinking water - and lots of it! I have included an article I read today that should show you how important it is to get and stay hydrated - and let you know how much water you need to be drinking every day just to maintain what your body uses and eliminates every day?

By the way, soft drinks, coffee, tea and other popular beverages do NOT hydrate you at the cellular level - in fact most of them will DEHYDRATE you, especially if they contain caffiene. Even bottled and tap water do not do a very good job anymore, as we have altered the structure and size of the H2O clusters, making them much harder to absorb than God ever intended. But, I have an answer for you if you're interested, and I give it away to prove how well it works!!

Here is the article in its entirety...

How Much Water Should You Drink Each day? This is one of those questions where many experts have a difficult time coming to an agreement over the answer. We have all heard the rule, "8 - 8 oz. glasses of water each day", also known as the 8 x 8 rule. According to the Mayo Clinic, doctors generally recommend 8 or 9 cups, a total of 72 ounces, per day. But, is this really enough or appropriate for everyone? The truth is there is no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to water consumption. There are several factors which determine how much water you will need each day.

Water used by the body The body uses water to help regulate body temperature and aid in metabolic processes. It also helps flush waste from the body and is used to assimilate many vital nutrients. 90 percent of our blood is water, and our body as a whole is about two-thirds water. As water is spent by the body, waste is excreted by the kidneys, and through perspiration.

Men verses women Because men and women generally differ in both size and metabolic activity, men typically need more water than women on a daily basis. The National Institutes of Health recommends men drink at least 3 liters or 13 cups of water each day.

Women require less at 9 cups, or a little more than 2 liters daily. Women also require nearly one and a half times the minimum amount when breastfeeding.

Activity level Your body will spend a minimum of 6.3 cups just to maintain normal function and temperature. It is lost through breath, sweat and urine. Another 4 cups will be lost through the excretory system. However, the more activity you participate in, the more water is used and then lost by the body. Of note, although your activity level is decreased during times of illness, you should actually consume even more water to prevent dehydration and help the healing process.

How much do I need? A better rule of thumb is one that is supported by many natural health professionals, and is customizable to each individual. That is, you should consume at least half your body weight in ounces each day. For example, a 120 lbs. female requires roughly 60 ounces of water, or about 3 sport bottles worth daily. A 190 lbs. man would need at least 80 oz. of water each day. As activity levels increase, so should the amount of water consumed. It is important to calculate your own minimum daily requirements and find ways to incorporate more water into your daily routine.

Considerations Other factors which may influence water intake include age, weight and medications which may cause dehydration. Caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea and soda can also be dehydrating. The most important thing to consider is to pay attention to your body's signals. If you feel thirsty, drink water.

If you experience any signs of dehydration, such as dizziness or headaches, increase your water intake. Avoid non-hydrating drinks like alcohol and coffee as much as possible, especially during warmer weather. If you experience severe dehydration or heat stroke, seek medical attention.

My personal advic is to drink AT LEAST one ounce of water for every two pounds you weigh every day, and if you are trying to get rid of some sort of a health problem - drink ONE OUNCE PER POUND you weigh every day! And drink the purest healthiest water you can! AZKANGEN

John Hopkins Update
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOUTHERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a  person's lifetime..

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, but also to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing  diet to eat more adequately and healthy, 4-5 times/day
and by including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can  cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7.. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of
chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to    mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.    Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other    sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar substitutes like
NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made   with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute   would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small   amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.
A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat,    like chicken. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including be an sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C)..

e. Avoid soda, coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine
Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink filtered processed alkaline water,  to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of  digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the  intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By    refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes    to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the    body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system    (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals,    EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy    cancer cells.. Other supplements like vitamin E are known    to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's   normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or   unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.    A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior   be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put   the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to   have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy   life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated    environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to  get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen  therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer  cells.

1.
No plastic containers in micro.

2.
No water bottles in freezer.

3.
No plastic wrap in microwave..

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Even water bottles that have been sitting on shipping docks in the sun are bad. Recently, Dr Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead. Microwaves are a bad idea for any food prep. It destroys nutrition value.

Child Obesity Research Studies and Facts

In February of this year, First Lady Michelle Obama presented her ambitious Let’s Move campaign to battle the terrifying childhood obesity epidemic. Mrs. Obama was inspired not only from her family and children’s lifestyle, but also by some startling obesity statistics that have been gathered by medical researchers over the past thirty years.

A child is considered obese if their BMI (Body Mass Index) is 30 or higher, and this BMI level in anyone, especially children has the potential to cause very severe health issues. Recent studies using DEXA scanning devices show that this number is probably much higher than originally thought. There is no better time to solve the obesity issues among America’s children, and the adults of every generation.

•Childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years. In 1980, the obesity rate of 6-11 year olds was 6.5%, by 2008 it had tripled to 19.6%. For toddlers and preschoolers aged 2-5, the obesity levels have risen from 5% to 12.4% in the same amount of time.

•If both parents are overweight, a child’s likelihood of being overweight is increased by 60-80%. The chance of an obese child growing into an obese adult is about 70%. Children perceive the number one immediate issue of being overweight is social discrimination, as reported by overweight children. This has the ability to prevent them from exercising with other children, which leads to antisocial and depressive tendencies, as well as lifetime psychological effects.

•There are a number of serious health conditions that arise from obesity, especially when a person’s joints and arteries are being challenged at such a young age. Some of the main illnesses that become incredibly more likely to occur due to childhood obesity include heart disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, gall bladder disease and asthma.

1.Heart Disease: One of the biggest killers in America today, heart disease prevention is very important in early life. Obese children that grow to obese adults carry the increased risks of heart disease with them.

2.Type 2 Diabetes: Also known as adult-onset diabetes, the two main causes of this disease are related to an unhealthy lifestyle: lack of physical exercise, and obesity. Unlike type 1 diabetes, type 2 does not generally have a genetic cause.

3.Arthritis: While most arthritic patients are older, obese children can develop this disorder due to excessive weight and pressure on growing joints and bones.

4.Asthma: Obesity often affects lung capacity, which can create dangerous and disconcerting asthma attacks.

•The cost of obesity is high. Not only are there lifelong health issues to consider, but those who are obese pay an average 30% more in health costs, and 77% more in medication costs. It requires more foods that are high in "empty" calories to provide energy, and larger meals in general are much more expensive.

Reasons Behind the Numbers

Many studies on current lifestyles have drawn a number of conclusions. It is generally accepted that a combination of poor lifestyle choices has greatly contributed to these disturbing numbers.

1.Kids are eating more empty calories than ever before. Rather than healthy fruits and veggies and nutritious snacks and lunches, parents are serving processed snacks and various forms of high fructose corn syrup. Schools do not generally provide healthy food options, and kids with meal assistance plans have no choice but to consume unhealthy food items. Even kids with options often have an array of processed snacks, fried foods, sweets and sodas to purchase, and very few healthy options.

2.Forms of entertainment have drastically changed. Just a few decades ago, kids spent the majority of their time playing outside with other kids from their neighborhood, or with their siblings in the backyard. Now they spend their time playing video games, watching television, and sitting in front of their computers.

3.Physical education budgets in many school districts have taken huge hits. Programs such as the No Child Left Behind Act have begun to engulf exercise and activity time such as PE and recess. Low budgets have led to fewer teachers and less equipment for gym class and after school physical activities. Many schools now have to charge nominal fees for the students to participate in school sports. The less fortunate cannot afford these fees and are forced to opt out. The old strenuous and fun PE games for adolescents are being replaced by less-stimulating games that do not require the active involvement of all participants.

4.Today’s children spend much more time in cars than ever before. They are much less likely to walk to school, the bus stop, or the park. They don’t bike a few miles to get to the pool in the summer, and they don’t jog to the local ballpark. Parents no longer walk their kids to their friends’ houses anymore, but rather drive them a few blocks away due to time constraints or safety reasons.

5. Parents don’t make their children drink healthy alkaline, ionized water such as Kangen Water. Trading their existing sugary drinks for a healthy glass of water is the easiest thing a parent can do to bring their child back to a healthy weight.

Acidic sodas, sugary sports and energy drinks actually cause a lot of damage, but nothing it worse for our children than letting them drink large amounts of soft drinks.

Why Hypothyroidism Is an Epidemic Today

Your thyroid is a small gland that sits in the lower part of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. During the year, it makes about 1 teaspoon of thyroid hormone. And just this tiny amount is needed to drive the metabolic rate of every one of the trillions of cells in your body.  Thyroid hormone is vitally important to cell development, cell differentiation, and cell metabolism. It regulates fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism. It creates body heat and energy. And it affects how vitamins and minerals are utilized in your body.

You need to know that thyroid hormone is so important to the function of every cell in your body (and thus every organ in your body) that . . .

A thyroid imbalance can lead to 59 separate diseases. Have you been experiencing . . .

  • Fatigue?
  • Brain fog?
  • Headaches?
  • Cold feet or hands?
  • Constipation?
  • Dry skin?
  • Body aches?
  • Weight gain?

Do you have any of these conditions . . .

  • Memory loss?
  • High cholesterol?
  • Hair loss?
  • Heart palpitations?
  • Low or high blood pressure?

Do you right now have . . .

  • Allergies?
  • Arthritis?
  • Cancer?
  • Heart Disease?
  • Diabetes?

A thyroid deficiency can be at the root of all these symptoms and serious diseases, and it usually goes undetected and often untreated!

How did we get into this predicament? It's shameful, but there are two reasons for it . . .

Reason #1: An estimated 52 million Americans are afflicted with thyroid hormone deficiency (and more every year), and the main culprit is a poisonous ingredient in foods and consumer products that destroys thyroid production (you can thank Washington politicians who continue to allow it). Floride has been mandated as law in many cities and has a direct correlation to thyroid problems.

Reason #2: The standard thyroid test taught in American medical schools — the TSH test — is among the most inaccurate tests in modern medicine, so hypothyroidism is "usually missed," which sets the stage for disease.

Worse, your doctor may have misdiagnosed your symptoms and then prescribed unnecessary drugs. And what's more, if hypothyroidism is the root cause of your disease or illness, and it goes untreated, your doctor can't successfully treat you. Ask your doctor about:

  1. Four thyroid tests to request for an accurate reading.
  2. Link between low thyroid and heart disease (plus why chronic fatigue,
fibromyalgia, diabetes, cancers — 59 diseases — are linked to it).
  3. Factors that inhibit T4 thyroid from being converted to the active form T3 (iodine and B-vitamin deficiencies, beta blockers, fluoride, and toxic chemicals and metals, to name a few).
  4. Importance of iodine to thyroid function
(plus, why you're probably short on iodine and what you can do about it).
  5. How hypothyroidism causes high cholesterol
(and why you should NOT take harmful cholesterol-lowering statin drugs).
